Cotabato City celebrates the Shariff Kabungsuan Festival in the third week of December to commemorate the arrival of the missionary who brought Islam to mainland Mindanao. The fluvial parade reenacts Kabungsuan's journey as he entered the Rio Grande de Mindanao.
